Andrew Hem was born to Cambodian parents who fled the Khmer Rouge, and his work draws on both his Khmer heritage and his upbringing in Los Angeles. Blending influences from graffiti, spirituality, and folklore, he creates dreamlike paintings and murals — known for evocative color and impressionistic brushwork — that explore memory, identity, migration, and belonging.
